This move is advanced, please try in a gym before applying it outside.
The Kong-safety is a move combining the Kong and the safety vault. It is an advanced move used by free runners to get over a long block or 2 blocks spaced apart. The move is performed when someone approaches a block and does a Kong and safety over 1 or 2 blocks without letting their legs touch the ground. This move is difficult as it requires you to change your center of mass while in the air, and have the reaction time to put your hands and legs down at the same time.
Kong Vault
Step Vault
Technique[]
- Run up to the block like you are doing a Kong.
- Do the Kong with more upwards force. (push off the block harder)
- Engage your core and tilt your body to the left or right while in the air.
- Imitate a descending step. (safety vault)
- Thread your leg through.
- Complete the safety vault.
Progressions, Pre-requisites[]
Pre-Requisites:[]
Kong, Safety Vault, preferably Double Kong.
Progressions:[]
(Set up: two block setup parallel to each other with a manageable distance.)
Stand on the first block and attempt a downwards safety vault. (first block to second)
Do a Kong Pre. (first to second block)
Get both moves down comfortably, then attempt the Kong Pre but immediately transition into Safety Vault position and finish the move.
Practise the move faster and faster and you will get the Kong-Safety!
