A Rail Flip is a vault used in freerunning where two hands are placed on top of an obstacle and a front handspring is executed to get over it. This move may also be started with a dive.

Variations[]

Kong Front[]

Main article: Kong front

A kong vault followed by a front flip. A common misconception is that a kong front would be a front hand spring over an obstacle, however, that is a basic rail flip so it's slightly different in the set up.

Progressing Rail Flip[]

A double kong vault (or triple) with every tap slowly flipping you forward until the last push off with the rest of of the handspring.
