The Safety Vault is a vault used in parkour that is much easier variation of the side vault, except the the outside foot is placed on top of the obstacle and the inside arm is then released, while the outside foot pushes the practitioner off the obstacle.
Guide[]
Prerequisite[]
There is no prerequisite for learning this technique as it is the most basic vault in parkour. However, if you are struggling to learn this technique then improving flexibility and jump height can help.
Technique[]
- Approach the obstacle face on
- Place the outside hand on the obstacle and the outside leg on the obstacle
- Lift the inside leg through as the body moves over the obstacle
- Land on the inside leg and continue forward running movement.
Usage[]
It is often recommended as the first vault to learn, it is considered one of the easiest vaults, and many other vaults are variations of it. It also does not require any commitment (it is one of the few vaults than can be performed slowly), it is not as intimidating to perform as more advanced vaults, and it can be used when momentum has been lost.

Side Vault[]
- Main article: Side vault
The side vault is identical to a safety vault, except the feet never touch the obstacle and only the hands are placed down.
